Dear Cosmos Community,
I’ve been writing The Care Package for two years, and what started out as a seed of an idea to tell everyday stories of Asian women in America is now a Real Newsletter. All of this is possible because you read and share and write me emails that I save in an inbox folder labelled “CARE PACKAGE LUV”.
Every time you open this newsletter, you remind me that our stories matter, and there are many stories that have yet to be told. I could squeeze out a newsletter every week for the text ten years and it wouldn’t be enough. This year — the tragedy, the chaos, but also, the hope, YOU, lit a spark under my ass. I want The Care Package to do more for you and for the Asian women community. I’m not waiting for permission, or for Some Hollywood Executive to deem our stories matter.
I want to send you stories about the Asian women community that’ll make you laugh, and go “omg, that’s me”. I want you to connect with fellow Care Package readers, and together, to feel like you’re supporting one another and future generations of storytellers. To make this happen, today I’m launching paid subscriptions for The Care Package. You can become a paid subscriber for $5/month or $50/year.

The Cosmos Care Fund is a creative aid fund for Asian women in America to pursue creative projects that share their stories with the world. Read more about the Fund here.
Our goal is to give away $12,000 in 2022 to Asian women, and we need your help!
As a paid subscriber, you’ll vote on each month’s grantees.
Funds are distributed every month, and multiple people can be funded each month. The first grantees will be awarded in January 2022.
The application form does not ask for credentials or references because all that is stressful!! You can find the application here :)
How The Care Fund Will Be Funded
Your paid subscription ($5/month or $50/annually) directly funds The Cosmos Care Fund: Every subscription contributes $1 to The Cosmos Care Fund!
From one-time donations: You (or a friend!) can make a one-time donation to The Cosmos Care Fund in any amount of your choice by contributing to The Cosmos Venmo. If you’re interested in matching contributions during a month of your choice, please get in touch at karen@jointhecosmos.com!
What Happens If You Get Funded
You’ll get a feature interview in The Cosmos Care Package and on the @jointhecosmos Instagram!
You’ll receive the funding in 5 business days.
There are no strings - use the funding as you wish.
All applicants from each month will be featured in The Care Package Culture Corner, regardless of funding decisions!
[3] You’ll get to know fellow readers and their recommendations for making it thriving during this weird time to be alive!
